System Engineering And Laboratories (SEAL) was founded by president and CEO Frank Johnson in 1981 after 21 years of service including the High Energy Laser Research division of the U.S. Air Force.  During 1984, the office moved to our current laboratory location in Tyler, Texas.  While our consulting focus has always remained in the areas of engineering, failure analysis, and safety, we expanded our market, in 1998, to include product-testing services.

By 1991, we saw an increase in the need for fire investigations; therefore, Fire Cause Investigations (FCI) was born.  FCI is a division of SEAL that provides fire origin and cause investigation services throughout the United States.

Our services include Forensic Engineering Consulting, Fire/Explosion Investigation, Safety, Expert Witness Services, Full-Scale Independent Laboratory, On-Site Examinations, Testing, Product Research, Product Certification Testing, Product Listing to ASTM, OSHA, and ANSI Requirements, Instrumentation and Data Collection, Nondestructive Testing, Metallurgy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Forensic Photography, and Aerial Photography.
